Learning Satellite Program with Hokkaido University (HU) at Faculty of Science, PSU

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Satoshi Naramoto and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hidetaka Ito together with 4 students from Hokkaido University spent a total of 5 days with students of the Faculty of Science, under the supervision of lecturers from both sides for study, lab and a field trip, “Learning Satellite Program” from 3-7 October 2022 was meant to implement a new joint education program that connects basic botany to applied plant biotechnology.

This project is a valuable opportunity for students who are studying mainly basic botany, to learn more about how basic science is effectively utilized in biotechnology and how it is linked to social industries. Also the intercultural exchange of both sides was a learning outcome.

Welcomed by the Dean of the faculty Assoc. Prof. Dr. Anchana Prathep and the head of the Biological Science division Assoc. Prof. Dr. Sahut Chantanaorrapint the group was starting off with plant related experiments and also got to do a field excursion to Songkhla Lake and was welcomed by faculty staff and students to join for a final trip to Songkhla city.
