On 4-6 July 2023, The Faculty of Science, PSU extended a warm welcome to lecturers and students from the Faculty of Applied Sciences at Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM), Malaysia. This event was organized under the name UiTM-PSU Joint International Outreach 2023.

The first day started by visiting the renowned Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn Natural History Museum to discover more about animals, biology, and ecosystems in Thailand. Educational activities were filled in on the second day of the program, beginning with an introduction and study opportunities at the Faculty of Science, then a laboratory visit to the Center of Excellence in Nanotechnology for Energy organized by Dr. Panu Thainiramit, as well as the Waste2Energy Laboratory directed by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Laemthong Chuenchom.

After visiting the facilities, six representatives from the two institutions presented their research projects. The seminar is not only focused on chemistry disciplines but also material physics, and forensic science thanks to Asst. Prof. Dr. Apichai Phonchai. Additionally, the UiTM students showcased a range of Malaysian dances and gave out chemistry disciplines as a cultural exchange. The program also broadens the horizon of how science can be implemented in real-life situations by visiting 42 Natural Rubber Company, a community enterprise in Chana, Songkhla, to learn about the production processes and products made from rubber, such as latex-coated gloves, pillows, and card holders. The factory’s managing director Khun Kunanya Kaewnu also demonstrated how the rubber pillows and latex-coated gloves were made onsite. This industrial visit was insightful, full of knowledge and hands-on experience due to the community service collaborations of Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ekwipoo Kalkornsurapranee and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nitinart Saetung, Rubber Product and Innovation Development Unit.

We hope that this program will strengthen the bond between our universities and pave the way for more future collaborations, student exchanges, and cooperative education.
